Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz offers the main Award as well as the opportunity for the winner to show his or her collection on the main stage of the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. Furthermore we are delighted with the high-class shuttle service of this evening offered by Mercedes-Benz.

The Dutch Fashion Awards owes an important part of its allure to the partnership with Mercedes-Benz. Since 1996 the brand has sponsored many international fashion shows and has been the title sponsor of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, Los Angeles, Berlin and Miami. Moreover, Mercedes-Benz has teamed up in strategic partnerships with some of the biggest names in fashion, such as Italian designers Giorgio Armani and Ermenegildo Zegna.

The Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award goes to the Dutch Fashion design label most likely to succeed in bringing its label onto the international market successfully within the next two years. The winner will receive a financial reward of 25.000 Euros, which will enable the label to take further steps onto the international fashion market.

“Mercedes-Benz, a loyal partner for five years, engages the first lustrum for the presentation of the Concept A-Class to the Dutch fashion industry.”

The Grote Kerk

The Grote Kerk

Breathtaking home to the Dutch Fashion Awards since 2009

The Grote Kerk is among the oldest buildings in the centre of The Hague. Sources from 1335 refer to the grote kercke (literally: the big church), but the church did not reach its present size until the end of the fifteenth century. The famous stained-glass windows created by Gouda native Dirck Crabeth were placed in the choir aisle in 1547. Among many famous people are buried in the Grote Kerk, like poet and statesman Constantijn Huygens and his son, the physicist and astronomer Christiaan Huygens. A memorial tablet to them can be found at the back of the chancel. Like most big churches of this age and size the Grote Kerk has lived through many changes in society. When the size of the congregation began to decline in the second half of the 20th century the building was handed over to a foundation set up by private citizens. Since 1981 the foundation’s main aim is to ensure that the Grote Kerk is preserved and that the building serves a useful purpose that preserves its dignity. Between 1985 and 1987 the church underwent a major restoration financed by funding bodies, companies, private donors, the government and the Netherlands Department for Conservation of Historic Buildings and Sites. Since then, the church hosts a range of community and cultural events in addition to gatherings of ideological groups.

Through these kinds of projects, Sacha commits itself to bringing new talent onto the market. The collaboration with the Dutch Fashion Foundation originated by the mutual vocation of Angelique Westerhof (founder of DFF and former director of FIA) and Sacha to enthuse designers for the beautiful craftsmanship of footwear design. Supporting emerging talent has been an important part of Sacha’s brand values for several years now. Atelier Ted Noten

Atelier Ted Noten

Designer of the Dutch Fashion Award trophy

Ted Noten is a Dutch jewellery designer who constantly explores the boundaries of his profession. Graduated from the Amsterdam Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 1990 he started working on an oeuvre that has certainly influenced the contemporary jewellery field. Ted Noten has participated in a number of exhibitions worldwide, and a broad spectrum of galleries and museum collections now represent his oeuvre. Sawing up a Mercedes-Benz car into brooches, sealing a little dead mouse wearing a tiny pearl necklace inside a block of acrylic: his work is never far from controversy. Still, Ted Noten honours the specific qualities of jewellery design in which emotions, humour and small stories play the leading part. Since 2005, Atelier Ted Noten takes on larger projects and has created work for private collectors, local councils, art institutions and more. This includes (interior) design projects, installations and jewellery assignments. We are proud to mention that a beautiful documentary about Ted Noten by Simone de Vries, called: ‘Gold, Sweat and Pearls’ is just released and available on DVD at www.zeppers.nl
