Joline Jolink

Although Joline Jolink started her womenswear label only in 2005, she managed to make quite a name for herself. Her fashion may be very accessible and ‘female friendly’, her guts to hijack the catwalk shows of Celine in Paris and Marc Jacobs in New York, with a mid winter hit and run presentation of her collections outside their venues, betray her true anarchistic and go-getter nature.

Joline Jolink’s collections do not intend to complicate classic female elegance, yet she serves them with a twist of unexpected proportions, fresh colours and contemporary attitude. She’s obviously a women’s woman, designing comfortable quality clothes that immediately invoke a fun run-away-Roman-holiday feeling. Freedom and the excitement to live up to your dreams seem to be her drive.

As she aims specifically for the American market she shows her collections during both Amsterdam Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week. Apart from her online shop Joline Jolink is currently available from Sky in Amsterdam, Wendela van Dijk in Rotterdam, Wandjina in Amersfoort, and Pixie Market in Los Angeles and New York.

Pre-selection committee

To gain an indirect, objective and independent vote the Dutch Fashion Foundation has invited a select group of national decision makers and key-players with a cultural and economical background into the Academy of Dutch Fashion Design. The members of the Academy have all individually listed their top ten of most promising Dutch fashion designers, with a result of 30 designers. Looking at the ranking in which they were chosen and the criteria set up for this award, a selection was formed of 10 designers. From an international point of view the honorary member of the jury will then choose 7 designers as the Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award 2008 finalists.

Members of the Academy of Dutch Fashion Design: Amsterdam International Fashion Week - Arnhem Fashion Biënnale - Dutch Fashion Foundation - Fonds voor Beeldende Kunst Vormgeving en Bouwkunst - HTNK - Intres – Klavers van Engelen - Modefabriek - MODINT - Orson+Bodil - Prins Bernard Foundation - World Fashion Centre
