Mercedes Benz Dutch Fashion Awards 2007

On November 1st Dutch fashion designers Niels Klavers and Astrid van Engelen won the Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award 2007 with their label Klavers van Engelen. They received a financial reward of 25.000 euro to enable them to take further steps in the international fashion industry. The international jury and its honorary member Maria Luisa Poumaillou chose Klavers van Engelen out of seven nominated designers during this first annual Award show. On this festive evening 800 guests were invited to the Beurs van Berlage in the heart of Amsterdam to celebrate Dutch fashion.
NOMINATED DESIGNERS
Dutch Fashion Icons

Besides the main Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award two other awards were presented to the male and female Dutch Fashion Icons, selected by the 30 designers chosen by the Academy of Dutch Fashion Design. The Dutch ‘king of style’ Ruud van der Peijl was honoured as Dutch Fashion Icon Homme and received a trophy necklace with a piece of a real Mercedes-Benz developed by jewellery design atelier Ted Noten. Dutch actress Carice van Houten was honoured as Dutch Fashion Icon Femme, but unfortunately was unable to attend the Award ceremony.
